How to Replace an audi replacement Key service near me (qooh.me) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper timing chain. The code won't show without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test since there are different pins on the connector, Audi a5 key fob - wx.abcvote.cn, and each one has different functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stay shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car key cover audi can start when the G28 is not plugged in and is running fine when it is connected however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I believe that I've all other possibilities out. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you experience any of these issues it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and needs replacing. They're inexpensive and easy to locate, especially in the case of a Bosch sensor like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this component is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for many issues in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your audi keyfob because it relays information to the ECU on how fast or slow the car's engine is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other car key replacement audi components to be affected.

SEAT-Logo-2019.jpgThe G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU is then able to process this signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points. This part is common across the audi replacement key cost uk 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find some good ones in wrecking yards.
